What are you awesome at?

What should I do with my life? How do I align my passion with my career? How do I figure out my talents?

These are questions that come up frequently when I speak with young professionals. Here's a simple checklist for you to kickstart the discovery process on what your top skills/attributes are:

  1. You receive feedback from others regularly about this.

  2. There is a repeated pattern of this surfacing over your lifetime.

  3. When practicing this, it feels energizing, exciting, and effortless.

  4. You get extraordinary results when diving deep into this.

Remember, you don't need to be the best at something for others to find value in your providing this skill to them. If you excel at this something, and you are interested in sharing it with others, then it's one of your gifts to the world.

What happens is, sometimes, we lose sight of our talents because we're surrounded by others who are immensely talented in the same areas and we feel overshadowed by this.
